What she got was much more.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s worked at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osfhealthcare.org\/locations\/?latitude=42.2677214&#038;location=Rockford,%20IL%2061104&#038;longitude=-89.08777479999999&#038;locationType=Primary%20Care\/\">OSF Medical Group \u2013 Rock Cut Primary Care<\/a> in Loves Park for the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really is a family within my Mission Partners, and it\u2019s a family within the patients. I plan on being here until retirement,\u201d Wanda said.<\/p>\n<h2>A friendly face<\/h2>\n<p>Wanda is in many ways the face of her office, and she gets to know the families they serve quite well.<\/p>\n<p>Once patients check in at the front, she\u2019s one who brings them back to the room, goes over their chart with them, takes their vitals and listens to their concerns before they see the provider. She\u2019s often the one who calls after their appointments to follow up on any test results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the things I like most about my job is the patient interaction. Especially working in family practice, you have a relationship with the patients, and that\u2019s a pretty cool thing,\u201d Wanda said.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s also trained to assist on certain medical tasks, which gives her an opportunity to work more directly with the providers and to serve the patients in another way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI assist my provider with all of his procedures, so I\u2019m there holding hands and helping out. The biggest thing for me is knowing I made an impact on the patients. It makes you feel good when a patient says, \u2018Thank you for being here,\u2019\u201d Wanda said.<\/p>\n<h2>Finding the right fit<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6685 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/osf-blog.live.imagescape.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/r-moa-sd1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"OSF Rock Cut Primary Care\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osf-blog.live.imagescape.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/r-moa-sd1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/osf-blog.live.imagescape.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/r-moa-sd1-333x500.jpg 333w, https:\/\/osf-blog.live.imagescape.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/r-moa-sd1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>In the last decade, Wanda\u2019s gotten to know the families who come to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osfhealthcare.org\/locations\/?latitude=42.2677214&#038;location=Rockford,%20IL%2061104&#038;longitude=-89.08777479999999&#038;locationType=Primary%20Care\/\">OSF Medical Group \u2013 Rock Cut<\/a> for care. Just as she\u2019s taken an interest in them, many of them have shown they care for her as well.<\/p>\n<p>Many of them ask her about her life and her children. When she took a leave of absence from work, she returned to find a stack of notes from patients wishing her well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve become a part of their life, just like they\u2019ve become a part of mine,\u201d Wanda said.<\/p>\n<p>Wanda was working as an office manager in a different clinic for 11 years, but it closed when the provider retired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI found myself wondering what I was going to do with the skills that I had. I applied for a different job, and when I got this one, I wasn\u2019t sure what to expect. It\u2019s been by far the most rewarding thing I\u2019ve done,\u201d Wanda said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/careers.osfhealthcare.org\/pages\/medical-assistants\">Working as an MOA<\/a>, Wanda needs to be ready to handle whatever the day brings, but working as a team at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osfhealthcare.org\/\">OSF HealthCare<\/a>, she\u2019s always felt confident and supported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can be demanding, but it\u2019s demanding in a good way.
